Landscapes Series

This series of paintings are investigations into color, abstraction and nature. The Landscape Obscura paintings are filled with high energy lively colors, while others rejoice in subdued hues and calm meditations. These paintings are playful adventures into the realm of deconstructing and reinterpreting the natural environment. Through the use of abstraction, rhythm and complicated shapes, I'm interested in creating harmony, balance and emotional connections to a sense of place. The paintings of lighter palettes are windows into vistas of serene stillness, where one can enter a world of contemplation and imagine the soft peaceful sounds of nature. I use desaturated, tinted colors to create a dreamy world where our imaginations can interpret and inhabit places and environments of our own making. These paintings offer an opportunity to take a rest from the everyday busy life and enjoy a moment of the soothing slowness of a tranquil space. Eliciting inspiration from nature's patterns and motifs, my hope is that this series will create evocative pathways that take viewers on a magical journey.
